MOOD feature for Ripple House by Zane Carter Architects

Ripple House featured by MOOD

Ripple House MOOD recognition places Zane Carter Architects on an international design platform, with the Museum of Outstanding Design featuring the project for its sculptural response to light, space and movement.

We’re pleased to share that Ripple House has been featured by MOOD, the Museum of Outstanding Design. The feature recognises the project for transforming an attached dwelling into a calm, light-filled and highly resolved home.

Designed by architect Sam Alawie, the home responds to the challenge of bringing daylight into a compact residential setting. As a result, a central double-height void, custom glazing and carefully composed interiors allow light to move through the residence.

Ripple House MOOD feature

The MOOD feature highlights Ripple House for its sculptural approach to space, light and residential experience.

In particular, the project uses a custom screen and central double-height void to create openness, privacy and connection within the limits of an attached dwelling.

Together, these design moves help the home feel calm, immersive and responsive throughout the day.

A home shaped by light and movement

Ripple House draws its character from the way light, material and form interact throughout the day. Subtle shifts in shadow and reflection create a calm atmosphere, giving the home a strong connection to nature and daily life.

The project balances sculptural expression with practical planning. Therefore, spaces feel generous, private and connected while still supporting everyday rituals.

In addition, the custom screen filters light across the home and creates a quiet sense of movement. This gives the facade a responsive quality that changes as daylight shifts.

Recognition for considered residential design

For us, this feature reflects the value of designing homes that feel visually refined, highly functional and responsive to their surroundings.

Ripple House demonstrates how thoughtful design can turn spatial limitations into opportunities for connection, atmosphere and experience.

As part of our broader portfolio, the project represents a contemporary approach to Sydney architecture. It also reflects our focus on lifestyle, material restraint and long-term value.
